  • The years are the ones in BCW's own size guide, which it gives as circa: Golden 1938 to 1955, Silver 1956 to 1969, Current/Modern 1970 on. They meet the ages on this site at the same years. BCW names no size for comics before 1938.
  • BCW's Silver bag page says it fits Silver and Bronze Age comics; its guide puts 1970 on in Current/Modern. A wider Bronze Age comic can need the Silver bag.
  • BCW also sells a Modern board (6 5/8 x 10 1/2) for the Current/Modern bag; a Regular board (6 7/8 x 10 1/2) for the Silver bag.
  • BCW's magazine bag page gives its size as 8 3/4 x 11 1/8 and, further down, 8 7/8 x 11 1/8.
  • For thick comics BCW sells Thick versions of the Current, Silver and Golden bags, a little wider: for annuals and prestige comics (Current), and annuals and 80 page giants (Silver and Golden).

Sizes vary: measure the comic

Publishers have not always made comics one size, so two comics from the same year can need different bags. When you are not sure, measure it:

  1. Lay the comic flat on a table, front cover up.
  2. Measure the width across the front cover, from the spine to the right edge, in inches.
  3. Measure the height from the top edge to the bottom edge.
  4. Type both above. The comic takes the smallest bag it is no wider and no taller than.

BCW gives today's comics as normally 6 5/8 x 10 3/16 inches; its Current bag is 6 7/8 x 10 1/2. These are BCW's sizes; another maker's can differ, so check the size on the pack.
